Finally, the FBI would have found a solution to access data from the iPhone involved in the killing of San Bernardino. Without Apple's help.
Monday, Tim Cook has once again reaffirmed its commitment to the security of data on its phones. The man did not yield to the FBI demand requirements (for simplicity) Apple to create a version of "customized" iOS to quickly test many unlock codes. Investigators want to access the contents of the iPhone Syed Farook, the shooter of the slaughter of San Bernardino.
Never mind, the FBI apparently found a solution without Apple's help. That same Monday, authorities announced that currently testing a new method suggested by others. The track is obviously serious since justified the postponement of the hearing scheduled for 22 March to allow time for the FBI to ensure that the method is viable. The federal office said he was "reasonably optimistic" and a report will be submitted to the court on 5 April.
Who ?
Twist in the case, which raises a new question: that of the identity of the famous "third parties". Various options exist, but nothing very reliable yet. It might as well be a (former) Apple employee John McAfee as that, probably more for a new stunt than anything else, said to help the FBI.
The company, through its lawyers, has in any case announced that it would be happy to talk to the person who supplied the information to the FBI and to be aware of the flaw used. Except that if the case evaporates thanks to the latter, nothing will allow Apple to do, at least through justice. Next episode on April 5 a priori.
Upd : the mystery has not hovered a long time since the Yediot Aharonot, an Israeli newspaper, says it is Israeli society Celebrate, specializing in data mining, to assist the FBI.
